Good morning gals,
For this new series, Glowing from the Inside Out, I am going to be discussing things that are good for you not only on the external, but also the internal. It’s going to include some of my favorite rituals, along with new things I’ll be trying and have researched.
When I lived in New York I discovered Melissa Wood Tepperberg. She is a huge inspiration and role model in many ways to me. Melissa moved to the city and hustled and bustled while modeling and is this strong woman who stands for what she believes in. She eats intentionally, she’s very outspoken, a Pilates guru, and a sucker for clean beauty. Melisa sheds light on how to live and eat intentionally and helps her audience be their best self inside and out. She’s such a light, and clearly, I’m a huge fan.
One of the things I picked up from her is her celery juice ritual. I am a sucker for green juices. I have one everyday, except on the days I am being lazy. But the difference between her celery juice ritual and a regular green juice is that it makes my skin glow and I feel incredibly better after. My skin went from dull to spotless. I picked up this habit of making a celery juice every morning while I was living there, and I will live by this forever. It has made all the difference in my life.
Celery has many health benefits. One of the most known is its anti-inflammatory properties. Celery has a high water percentage and is rich in antioxidants. It aids circulation, hydrates you, decreases bloating, and helps cleanse the toxins in your body. This is very important because the core root of bloating is an unhealthy gut. Most people associate bloating with other factors, but that is the main one. By flushing the toxins out of your body, you are promoting a healthy gut. Now I’m not saying it’s going to clean your gut entirely, but it is a good start. All of these properties aid you internally and it will reflect on your skin and like I said earlier, in your mood too. It’s wild how good and refreshed I feel in the mornings after having a celery juice.
From experience, when you say “celery juice”, most people scrunch their face and immediately deny any association with it. Even getting them to try it is a mission, but nine times out of ten, once they’ve taken a sip of my celery juice they usually end up liking it. Below you can find my recipe. It gives ordinary celery juice a run for its money.
Celery Juice Recipe:
Ingredients:
- 6-7 Stalks of Organic Celery
- 4 inches of an English Cucumber
- 1/2-1 lime
- preferred amount of ginger (I like mine kind of spicy).
Steps:
After juicing or blending everything together refrigerate it for a couple of minutes and violá! Give it a try. I always say that you have to try almost everything once. Let me know what you think in the comments below. And keep in mind that you can add any fruits or veggies to it, this is just my twist on things.
XX,
Keren Nicole
